Safe Zone Counselling, Counselling and ADHD Group Programs, offers the following OnTrac group programs:
As a psychologist with a special interest in ADHD, working in the field for many years, I identified the need to develop a CBT-based group program for ADHD for different ages offering ADHD support in Perth.
OnTrac for Tweens and Teens was the first program to be developed and piloted. Information gathered during the piloting phase from parents before and after the program as well as during one-to-one sessions, led to the development of the subsequent programs as listed above.
A wealth of knowledge was gathered through this work, specifically identifying the need for more education about living with ADHD, and the challenges these individuals experience in school, family, social and work settings. In response, a Therapist Guide was developed, aiming at capacity-building in this field. The guide presents a curriculum that we’ve found to be helpful in working with the ADHD population across different age groups.
OnTrac is a teaching program and is a recognised service-learning project for third-year medical students from UWA. An evaluation of the OnTrac Program, conducted by a psychology student from Curtin University under the supervision of Prof. Natalie Gasson, showed that the young people taking part in the program have achieved meaningful and significant reductions in their ADHD symptoms.
