This workbook is designed to be used, with parental help, as a self-help guide; as well as the workbook for the OnTrac Combined Parent-Child Program.
Managing the day-to-day challenges of coping with a young child with ADHD was the original catalyst behind registered psychologist Grace da Camara and her GP-daughter, Dr. Madalena Bennett’s decision to develop this hands-on, practical tool as part of the strategies she has introduced through her teen-and-tween OnTrac ADHD program.
Based on their first-hand knowledge and lived experiences dealing with the impact of ADHD on their own family, the aim of this combined self-help workbook and guide is to provide realistic, practical and useful information to young children with ADHD, and their parents.
This book in the What Lies Beneath Matters series, is specifically designed to help improve the quality of parent-child interaction and foster a more informed understanding of the child’s thinking ability, motivation, and values to improve self-regulation and social competence.
What Lies Beneath Matters offers proven methods and techniques employed by Grace in her work with children with ADHD, in both individual and group settings. The OnTrac – Combined Parent-Child (CPC) Cognitive Behavioural Therapy-based group program was introduced to address the need for a collaborative approach to treatment, involving the child, parents and services.
Developed and piloted over a 4-year period, Grace’s OnTrac program is built on the findings of data collected pre-and post-program that showed that the young people that took part in the program had achieved meaningful and significant reductions in ADHD symptoms.
